Description

The brightly colored Pacific Queen Triggerfish or Niger Triggerfish occurs in warm coastal waters of the Atlantic, Mediterranean and the Indo-Pacific Oceans in and around coral reefs. The most distinguishing feature of the Queen Triggerfish is its ability to lock its dorsal spine in place, making it difficult for predators to pull them out of their holes in the reef. When fishing for Pacific Queen Triggerfish or Niger Triggerfish, always be careful when removing the hook, as Queen Triggerfish have a tendency to bite. The record for the Pacific Queen Triggerfish is currently just over 9lbs pounds, and was found in South Carolina.
