Description

The Chrysurus Angelfish, also known as Goldtail Angelfish or Ear Spot Angelfish (Pomacanthus Chrysurus) a relatively large Angelfish, growing up to 13″ inches. It is found on reefs in the western Indian Ocean, South Africa including Comoros, Seychelles and Madagascar. The fish is a general black/brown color with white vertical bands covering its body and bright blue bands covering the head, belly and anal fin, the tail of this fish is as the name suggests, yellow.

The Chrysurus Angelfish or Goldtail Angelfish requires a 220 gallon or larger aquarium with large amounts of live rock for grazing. Not a good reef dweller, the Chrysurus Angelfish is prone to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles.

The diet of the Chrysurus Angelfish or Goldtail Angelfish should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. When stressed, the Chrysurus Angelfish makes an unusual clicking sound.
